The Society for the History of Natural History

 

The Society for the History of Natural History is the only international society devoted to the history of botany, zoology and geology, in the broadest sense, including natural history collections, exploration, art and bibliography. Everyone with an interest in these subjects – professional or amateur – is welcome to join.

Current News: Friday 16 and Saturday 17 May 2008: Spring meeting and AGM at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh. “Log books, Ledgers and Field notebooks: what historic records can reveal”, further details to be announced. The Society has instituted a new student essay prize to commemorate the work of William T. StearnArchives of natural history, volume 34, part 2 was published in October 2007
