The Society for the History of Natural History is the only international society devoted to the history of botany, zoology and geology, in the broadest sense, including natural history collections, exploration, art and bibliography. Everyone with an interest in these subjects – professional or amateur – is welcome to join.On this site you will find information about the Society, its activities, publications and how to join us. You will also find news and up-to-date information as well as links to useful resources and further information.Current News: The Spring Meeting on “Log books, Ledgers and Field notebooks: what historic records can reveal”, together with the EGM and AGM, were held at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh on the 16th - 17th May 2008. The Report of the meeting Report is now available under ‘Meetings’. The Society has instituted a new student essay prize to commemorate the work of William T. Stearn. The most recent issue of Archives of natural history, volume 35, part 1 (2008) was published in April 2008. Older news: Student membership rates are now available. |
